Longsword

Longswords are two-handed swords, however they can usually function with one hand for a variety of maneuvers. Blade lengths on modern reproductions tend to average around 36 inches (91 cm).

There are many surviving period manuscripts that depict combat techniques using the longsword, in particular the Liechtenauer Medieval German Longsword, which is being reconstructed from texts by period masters such as Paulus Kal, Sigmund Ringeck, and Hans Talhoffer, among others.
