A variety of myths and misinformation exists about swords and armor, much of which originated with "scholars" and authors of the Nineteenth century.

Blood Grooves

"Blood grooves" are actually fullers, and are design features that control weight, balance, and flex, and have nothing to do with channeling blood.

Swords weighed twenty pounds

Most historical European swords weighed under four pounds, frequently even in the range of two to three pounds. Some of the extremely large two-handed swords, such as the Zweihänder or Flamberge, weighed over six pounds.
