Profile Taper

A sword's blade tapers in two ways. The gradual reduction in blade width from the base of the blade towards the tip is the "Profile Taper". Swords that fulfill different functions will have a different amount of tapering. For instance, thrusting swords may have a very acute profile taper, while cleaving swords may have a very gradual profile taper.
